Osteopathy for dogs
Dog osteopath, at home
Dogs hide discomfort well. The first signal is often not lameness but something smaller: getting up more slowly, less enthusiasm for the stairs, a different sitting position. As a dog osteopath I look for where movement is restricted and what the body does to work around it.

When a dog osteopath can help
- Getting up with difficulty, or stiffness after rest and after exercise
- Less willing to jump, take stairs or get into the car
- A changed sitting or lying posture, or standing crooked
- After surgery or injury, or during rehabilitation
- In sport and working dogs: a drop in performance or stamina
What happens at home
The appointment is at your home and takes about three quarters of an hour. A dog in its own environment is calmer, which makes both the assessment and the treatment more reliable. After the intake I assess movement (standing, walking and trotting) and then treat with soft techniques, at the dog's own pace. If he is not comfortable with it, we stop.
Alongside your vet
Osteopathy is not a replacement for veterinary care. For pain, acute lameness or a suspected condition, the vet comes first. Osteopathy can support the recovery that follows, and I will say honestly if I do not think it is the right route.
